The Murder of Fred Hampton
Imagine this - a film portrait is being made of the young Black Panther Fred Hampton as his rousing teenage personality gives speeches and advice to his community. Then, Fred Hampton is murdered halfway through the shoot - a dozen violent Chicago policemen burst into his apartment and fire endless streams of bullets into the sleeping Hampton. Footage shot hours after the muder contradicted news reports and police testimony. Originally released in 1971, this new edition has been digitally restored and includes a booklet by Mike Gray and the short documentary Cicero March, which chronicled a group of civil rights protesters who defied Mayor Richard J. Daley's order to not march in the predominantly white suburb, Cicero, IL.
